The General Studies Department at LCC is home to History and Foreign Language faculty and courses. In addition to offering core requirement courses, the department offers upper-level history courses, and German language and literature courses.

Mission statement General studies courses fulfil two objectives of a liberal education: to acquaint students with the important ideas in the history and current practice of civilization, and to challenge students to reflect critically upon those ideas. While General Studies is not a Major or Minor program, these courses give students a wide background in the central concepts and skills necessary for good citizenship.
