Leadership Seminar at LCC: Corruption Targeted
The 4th annual leadership seminar took place at LCC International University on the 15th of November. For the second year in a row the Pointman Leadership Institute, collaborating with Character Solutions International, came to Lithuania to share their knowledge and experience.
LCC Hosts Human Rights Oriented Movie Festival
These days LCC International University has become home to movie festival “Ad Hoc: Nepatogus kinas” (“Ad Hoc: Uncomfortable Films”). For four days – from yesterday to the upcoming Sunday – the Neufeld Hall is expected to be filled with the fans of human rights oriented movie genre.
LCC’s Study Abroad Brochure – Among the Best of 2007
LCC International University was mentioned on the pages of the prestigious graphic design album produced by MAP Lietuva. The album listed LCC’s study abroad recruiting brochure among the best works of graphic design in Lithuania last year. LCC’s Study Abroad Office employees use this brochure during their annual trips to the USA where these flyers are distributed during presentations.
Success: LCC Launches First Business Seminars
The idea to begin hosting business seminars at LCC International University proved to be a success as the first three seminars, organized for people in the region as well as the LCC community, gathered a significant number of participants.
Premiere: LCC Talents Occupied The Stage
On the 17th and 18th of October, members of LCC’s faculty, staff and student body captivated audiences with their theatrical performance of Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize winning play The Skin of Our Teeth. The play, directed by English professor Ervin Beck, allowed LCC members to display their talents and skills onstage through their performances.
Initiation Party: Masked Freshmen Only
The biggest freshman event of this academic year, organized mainly by the SOS team and their friends, took place in the Michealsen Center lobby on October 14th.
The Board’s Decision: Advancement Office Needed
The LCC International University Board of Directors fall meetings were held on campus on October 1st through October 4th. Fifteen members were in attendance and the agenda included discussion of a variety of issues related to enrollment management, faculty recruitment, finances sustainability, and a technology plan for the campus.
The Moose Are Loose And Victorious!
LCC kicked off the new season with a bang as they traveled across town to play Klaipėda University in our season opener and brought down the house with a 82-74 victory.   While KU was able to hit from outside early, the twin towers inside of Josue Mulamba and Oumar Seck were too much as the pair combined for 52 points and 19 rebounds.
Blood Drive: the LCC Community Saves Lives
Donating blood twice a year has become a new tradition at LCC International University. Since April 2008, students, staff and faculty have generously donated their blood to the National Blood Centre in Klaipeda.
The Ugly Duckling Cup: Pirates Take Over
Once upon a time three battling pirate gangs inhabited the magnificent waters of Neumann Pond. Legend has it they battled for a mystical Ugly Duckling who could transmit magical powers to its owner. No accounts as to the outcome of these ferocious pirate battles were ever found until this year, when ancient scrolls were discovered in bottles at the bottom of the pond. The scrolls proclaimed that the Ugly Duckling to this day remained unclaimed…
Intercultural Olympics: And The Winner Is…
On September 20, Saturday, students from Albania, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine had a great chance to demonstrate their athletic abilities by enjoying the sun, food and exiting games outdoors.
LCC’s Good News – in Media Spotlight
The new academic year is rich with good news for LCC International University. The largest ever number of freshmen, the widest range of nationalities represented, two new study programs approved, and campus development plans are as ambitious as never before. These joyful things do not go unnoticed by the city community – a number of journalists accepted LCC’s invitation to visit the university and make sure people in the region can celebrate the good news with LCC.
Community Day – Reconnection after the Summer
Once again Community Day, with its numerous activities and tasty hot dogs, gathered together all the students, staff and faculty to celebrate the beginning of the new academic year.
Eighteenth Summer with Summer Language Institute
Eighteen years. Eighteen summers (July 1991- 2008) filled with English lesson plans and activities. Eighteen successful English programs offered to students in Lithuania and neighboring countries. Eighteen opening ceremonies followed by eighteen closing ceremonies. We have something here that benefits both the community and LCC International University.
Welcome Words To First Year Students
Excited faces, plenty of questions, encouraging welcome speeches, applause, new friends, professors’ handshakes, dressed up parents, expectations of the first semester at university and, of course, tons of English language – this is what it felt like on LCC International University’s campus for four entire days during First Year Student Orientation (August 28-31).
Erasmus students learn Lithuanian and share their cultures at LCC
Stuffed paprika from Turkey, pancakes from Austria, baked chicken stomachs with chili sauce from Portugal, funny sketches and dance from Germany, songs from Hungary and France – all of this and much more was presented by this year’s Erasmus students at Neumann dorm’s lobby, where a Traditions evening called “Welcome to Lithuania” was held.
Serve Day: Together We Can Move Mountains
For the 3rd year in a row the LCC International University community came together for a special task – Serve Day. Our staff and faculty spent several hours preparing the campus for the arrival of students and getting to know each other since there are quite a few new people at LCC this fall.
Reason to Celebrate
Our institution is excited to announce that LCC International University has been given approval to begin Bachelor degree program in Psychology as well as to start our first ever Masters degree program - MA in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Foreign Language)! LCC has received the written statement on June 4 on the approval. LCC is
pleased that the university will be able to offer this new program to the current students,
for the graduates and others in the region.
The Future and the Past Alumni Meet in a Number of Events
As spring has arrived in Lithuania, the spring semester at LCC International University has come to a close. The final activities for the last weekend of the semester included an alumni reunion and graduation. Family, friends and alumni of LCC were expected to fill the campus to celebrate the graduating class of 2008 and also bid farewell to the current President and his wife, Jim and Virginia Mininger.
Closing Assembly and Barbeque Celebrates End of Semester
Students, faculty and administration gathered for a closing assembly and barbeque on the last day of classes, Friday, April 25th. The two events have become a traditional way of ending the semester at LCC International University, and provide an opportunity for reflecting over the semester, fellowship and community.
Classical Concerts Part of Mininger Farewell
Three classical concerts will take place at LCC featuring musicians from Lithuania as well as 6 other countries throughout Europe. They have been planned as part of the farewell celebration for Jim and Virginia Mininger after 13 years of Jim serving as President.
Talent Show Brings Together LCC Performers
Student performers entertained a full audience with song, dance and humorous skits at the Spring Talent Show on April 18th. Student council organized the event, which had a “mafia” theme and filled the Michealsen Centras Gymnasium with a variety of skills.
LCC Hosts Blood Drive
It is not everyday that LCC Internationala University students are able to take 30 minutes to help save a life. On April 16th, the National Blood Centre from Klaipeda came to LCC for a blood drive. Students and faculty were able to donate throughout the morning and afternoon.
Celebration of Nine National Independence Days
Many countries celebrate the anniversary of their independence one day of the year, often with food and patriotic festivities. This spring, LCC students from ten different countries have the opportunity to teach others about their culture and celebrate their country’s independence- whether or not the actual day falls during the course of the semester.
Class Project Raises Awareness of Mental Health Issues
LCC students enrolled in Abnormal and Social Psychology courses were given the opportunity to demonstrate and share their knowledge with their peers during the week of March 31st-April 4th. The theme of the week was “Mental Health Awareness”, and was intended to raise awareness of issues that are relevant to the student body.
LCC Celebrates Cultural Diversity at Parade of Stars
Students and faculty had another opportunity to learn about the countries represented at LCC in an interesting manner during the Parade of Stars.
Vilnius Jesuit Gymnasium visit LCC
On March 18, LCC International University had the Vilnius Jesuit Gymnasium come and visit the campus. This was a rare and exciting opportunity for us as an institution. The school is one of the top private schools in the country.
Challenging Students to Confront Stereotypes
In an effort to contribute to local community and Lithuania as a whole, LCC International University is beginning a program working with high school students that will raise their awareness and tolerance of other cultures. The program is called CMAP, which stands for Community Multicultural Awareness Project.
LCC Hosts National Public Speaking Competition
LCC International University hosted the 11th National Public Speaking Competition on March 7th. The competitors included 27 students between the ages of 16 and 20 from 17 different cities throughout Lithuania. They were accompanied by teachers, families and friends who watched and supported them throughout the day.
Annual Career Fair Invited Students for the 8th Time
Every college student must think about what they will do after graduation. In February the Career Development Center sought to aid the college students from throughout Klaipeda by offering a series of seminars and a career fair to provide occupational guidance and contacts with businesses. Though the event was held on campus, LCC International University worked with six other colleges from around Klaipeda to host the 8th annual career fair.
LCC Represented at Educational Fair in Vilnius
The 6th annual Learning, Studies and Career Fair took place at the Litexpo Center in Vilnius from February 21st - 23rd. The educational fair offered a variety of opportunities for youth and adults to learn about higher education options, promising occupations, career planning and other ways to develop their skills and knowledge.
Winter Athletic Events Keeps Students and Faculty Active
LCC has recently given students and faculty two opportunities to show off their athletic abilities.
LCC Celebrates Lithuanian Independence Day
On Friday, February 15, LCC International University extended an open invitation to celebrate the upcoming national holiday celebrating 90 years since Lithuania first became an Independent Republic.
Leadership Program Expands Experience
February 4 and 5 offered LCC International University students the opportunity to find a place in one of the leadership programs.
Students “Flooding” the First Spring Event
On February 1, Michaelsen center lobby was flooded with people who came to the Cocktail party. Over 150 people attended the event hoping to relax after the first weeks of hard studying. Staff, faculty and students enjoyed dances, games and alcohol free cocktails that were provided by the organizing team of LCC International University.
Creating Dialogue and Community Through Film
Since December 18th, 2007 LCC International University is home for “Klaipėdos Krikščioniškas Kitokio Kino Klubas” (Christian Film Club of Klaipėda, showing distinctive movies that present challenging ideas). Virginija Martusevičienė created this club after she heard a radio program about a similar club in Kaunas that has been functioning for more than six years.
The Last Site Visit Takes LCC Closer to Psychology Program Approval
LCC International University took another step towards being approved to offer a degree in psychology on Wednesday, January 30th. A team of four individuals from the Quality Study Center (SKVC), Vilnius University, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, and a business consulting agency spent the afternoon on campus in order to assess LCC’s readiness for implementation of the psychology program and to tour the facilities.
Saltshaker Conference Shakes Up Participants
Over 80 people from throughout Lithuania recently attended the 6th Saltshaker conference held at LCC International University. The conference has developed a tradition of bringing together young people from throughout the region for a weekend of listening to speakers, Christian fellowship, and hopefully some fun as well.
Opening Doors for New Generations
Last Saturday more than 50 prospective students from various Lithuanian cities and abroad, came to LCC International University to attend Open Door Days. This is an annual event where young people and their parents are invited to LCC to learn about how this institution can be a part of their future. Visitors are able to tour the campus, talk to officials, and students, and get other information about LCC. .They also had the chance to fill out an application form and start the admission process.
First International Academic Conference at LCC International University
On April 11-12th, 2008 LCC International University will be hosting its first international academic conference “Culture and Dialogue: An International Conference on Interdisciplinary Research and the Future of Higher Education.”
Christmas Pageant Invites Unity
The 7th and 8th of December were special days at LCC International University. During those days representatives from 21 countries were united in the Christmas pageant. More than 180 people participated in this spectacular event. Students, together with faculty and staff, led by Dave Rhodes, an LCC Student Life Staff Member, were singing songs, dancing and acting out the Biblical story of the birth of Christ.
Angel Tree Serves City Community
Every December LCC International University community brings peace and hope to several families in Klaipėda. LCC Spiritual Life team, Intercultural Programs, Residence Life, and first year seminar classes are organizing the Angel Tree Project for less fortunate families and their children.
Recruitment in Central Asia
At the beginning of November, Admissions Counselors Viktorija Potapova and Luke Theule traveled to Central Asia: Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. It was the second LCC International University Admission’s trip to Almaty, Kazakhstan and the first time to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
Thanksgiving Traditions Spread in Lithuania
LCC International University as an international community is used to many different customs. One of such wonderful traditions is Thanksgiving Day which orginated from United States. LCC hosts many students and professors from the US, therefore Thanksgiving is also celebrated at the university.
Rotary Scholarship for LCC Student
This year one of the Rotary branches in Lithuania, Aditė, provided a scholarship for a LCC International University student. Associate Dean Eglė Zalatoriūtė presented several candidates. The students had to show excellence in academics and be a resident of Klaipėda city.
Leadership conference
Last weekend LCC International University hosted the third Annual International Leadership Conference. The conference topic this year was “Character: The Path to Leadership Effectiveness.” It is the third year that LCC has organized a leadership conference.

LCC Versus TCU — 118-54
The LCC Moose started out their US Basketball tour with a game against the Horned Frogs of Texas Christian University and their experience and size combined with our 30+ hours of travel and jet lag proved to be too much as the Moose suffered a 64 point loss on November 6th.
LCC Bell Choir Performs in Public Event
LCC's bell choir, led by Dave Rhodes on Monday, October 22nd, performed their program of 6 pieces in Klaipėda's Concert Hall.

Intercultural Week 2007
For a whole week students had a chance to participate in various discussions and events throughout the campus. The week featured lectures, movies, art, and social events designed to bring our cultural diversity to the forefront of our minds. The theme for the week was Who is Your Neighbor? Exploring the Way Cultural Strangers Meet.
LCC International University Presents Classical Music Concert
On Tuesday, October 6 in the Klaipėda Concert Hall approximately 150 students, faculty, staff and community took time out of their busy schedules to attend the classical music concert given by four visiting music faculty and staff members of the Azusa Pacific University: Duane Funderburk, piano; Alex Russell, violin; Quinn Karges, viola; and Jonathan Thomson, cello. This was the 5th concert given by Funderburk and Russell at LCC International University.
LCC Representatives Meet UN Special Rapporteur in Vilnius
September 17, 2007- Natalija Z. Nausėdė, Director of Study Abroad Lithuania and Casey Stafford, Intercultural Education Director accompanied a first-year African student to the Lithuanian Center for Human Rights in Vilnius to report on racism related incidents that occurred in Klaipėda last spring.
2007 Moose Madness Basketball Game
Friday, September 21st ushered in a new era at LCC International University as the 2007 LCC Moose Basketball team was introduced during the 2007 MOOSE MADNESS, a crazy event centered on the traditional Staff/Faculty versus Students basketball game.
